Huge Scan & Model Project - Castle Towers Mall - Sydney

Scan to bim

A shopping centre in Sydney’s ever expanding North West is undergoing redevelopment which will see it become the second biggest retail centre in Australia.

We were engaged to prepare a survey accurate architectural and structural Revit model of the existing centre encompassing approximately 375,000 square meters or 4 million sq feet.

laser scanning

The building was scanned throughout using Leica C10 & P20 Laser Scanners, and a Leica TS 15 was used to establish survey control. A Leica Nova MS50 was also used in control and producing 'windowed' scans. Point Cloud data bases were established for external scans as well as scans for each level.

It took 3700 scans to fully scan the building. Leica Cyclone was used to clean and register the point clouds and also publish Truview images.

Revit was used to model Structural & Architecture elements, while the features of Revit MEP was used to create pipes, plant, ducts, and other services to create a partial MEP model in some of the loading docks.

It took 120 modelling days with multiple modellers working simultaneously to achieve a delivery within 3 months.

We are proud that this project won three awards.
